The Premier Hockey League (PHL) brings together competitive hockey and a development-focused approach, giving players opportunities to challenge themselves, strengthen their skills and take their game to the next level.
Since launching in 2019 with four teams in one division, the PHL has grown into a league with a reach across Western Canada and the northwestern United States. Entering its eighth season in 2026–2027, the league expects to welcome more than 80 teams across eight age divisions, representing Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Washington and Montana.
The PHL’s independently owned and operated member organizations share a commitment to enhanced player development. The league provides a competitive framework that supports each organization’s development program while offering players an alternative to the traditional minor hockey pathway.
Built around a prep-school-style showcase format, the PHL combines focused development time with concentrated league competition. Teams come together once a month for showcase weekends, playing four games over two to three days. The season culminates in a championship showcase where teams compete for a league title.
For our players, competing in the PHL means being part of a growing league built around development, opportunity, and higher-level competition.
